Vishwashanti Sangeet Kala Academy (VSKA), was inaugurated
by India’s Nightingale and Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar in a glittering event
on Thursday, 11th April 2013 at Rajbag, Loni Kalbhor, Pune. Lataji lit the auspicious lamp and declared
the institute open with her mesmerizing chants of the Gayatri Mantra.

Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar, Meena Khadilkar and Music
Maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Padma Bhushan Mohan Dharia, Babasaheb Purandare,
Zia Fariduddin Dagar, Annasaheb Dange and Karve Guruji the VSKA opened doors to
music lovers and students from around the globe to train in classical Indian
Music and western music of 160 countries.

Karad, Founder and President of the MIT Group of institute fondly
recollected “Actor Raj Kapoor was definitive that Rajbagh his treasured land will
only be given to MIT for setting up a education centre and what better way than
to have Lata Mangeshkar render her support and expert mentorship to the
students of VSKA.”
“ Students here are offered the
learnings in the age old guru-shishya environment.” says Adinath Mangeshkar,
Secretary General. “It offers a great environment which meets global learnings
from 160 countries from classical Indian to western music. Even the architecture of the building is
inspiring enough. The seven domes of the Academy denotes the seven ragas of
Indian Classical Music.”
Ustad Amjad Ali Khan said, “I am
a small member of Mangeshkar family. The very soul of this family is music.
There was a need for such kind of international institution of music. I hope
that this academy will fulfill this need and offer a great contribution in the
field of music.”
Many dignitaries presented odes and prayers at
the ceremony. The students of MIT have the option of pursuing their formal
education while training in Music. Classes begin from August 5, 2013. It is open to student as young as seven
years.
