REVIEW OF "CHALLO DRIVER"

A  typical Punjabi girl with an different attitude Tanaya Malhotra (Kainaz Motivala), as arts graduate from Chandigarh, who is looking for excitement in her career and one day when her friend dares her to consider becoming a chauffeur since its ‘different’ and daring and unassuming, the three adjectives bring a glint in her eye and she jumps at the offer. After a personal interview with the Dadaji (Prem Chopra), she’s hired at a salary of Rs 50,000/ per month + perks on a 6-month contract.  Hence she becomes Dadaji’s grandson Arjun Kapoor's chauffeur. Arjun Kapoor is  a fiery young construction magnate. He has a penchant for firing drivers and she has a proclivity for quitting jobs until fate — and an unassuming bet — throws them into the deep end and they have to stick out together for a stipulated period of 6 months! But Tanya manages and completes six months as a driver. When she lefts the job, Arjun feells that he is in love with her and both meet for a long living life.
As an writer, producer and director Vickrant Mahajan is also playing main lead as Arjun Kapoor in this film and he is confused in his job. The entire film revolves around, a woman Tanya is doing a man's job and dealing with the verbal sexual harassment that follows women stepping out of conventional roles. The challenging role played by  Kainaz Motivala, leaves a message to women that is everything is possible for the women in this male- intensive society. Otherwise, 93 minutes film is boring. This is a forgetful film laced with simple jokes in dialogues that passes a little laugh. Specially, second half the film is good, when Manoj Pahwa takes entry. When Arjun becomes driver for two days on a bit and turns Tanya’s uncle-aunty at Delhi. Manoj Pahwa is in his brilliant Punjabi-isms. The dialogue that is  women are involved in 37.58% lesser accidents compared to men, is also wrong. Musically the film is very poor. A unique content has raped badly in the script.
Vickrant Mahajan is totally disappointed. Kainaz Motivala is fair. Only Manoj Pahwa leaves a mark and entertain to the audiences. Prem Chopra,  Sweety Khanna and Sameer are okay. Others are supporting according to the script. The technical and production values are just fair for a small budget film. Publicity is not good.
At the Box Office, CHALLO DRIVER, is unable to run for one week. Only Delhi, it can run with a good faith and specially in single screens. Banner : Orange Canvas            Producer : Ronicka kandhari-Vickrant Mahajan
