REVIEW OF VICKY DONOR
Banner : Rising Sun Films Pvt. Ltd. JA Entertainment, Eros International
Writer : Juhi Chaturvedi
Director : Shoojit Sircar
Vicky Arora ( Ayushman Khurrana ) is an unemployed, 25 year old Punjabi boy from Lajpat Nagar, Delhi. His mother Dolly (Dolly Ahluwalia), a widow, runs a small beauty parlour at her home. Dr. Baldev Chaddha ( Anu Kapoor ), an opportunist MD and well qualified fertility expert, runs a sperm bank in Daryaganj, New Delhi. Being a veteran in his profession, he becomes much confident that Vicky is Aarya Putra, can be right sperm donor for him. He finds out his contact, meets him and convinces for his work. After much obvious hesitation, Vicky agrees contributing sperm to the cause as it offers him a steady income in return for what he believes is very little effort. Vicky goes to Bank for open his account where he meets Bengali girl Ashima Roy ( Yami Gautam ). Ashima is a divorcee who is afraid to retail her heart again. But Vicky manages to charm Ashima and even her family after persistent courtship. After marriage, when Ashima knows that her husband is a sperm donor, she goes to her parents home. Then Dr. Chaddha takes a step, invites all his clients on his clinic’s 25th Annuversary
where Ashima realizes that sperm donation is not account for cheating. This is a prestigious job, a kind of dignity and respect. She becomes proud on Vicky. Those couple, who can’t become parents can take help of a sperm donor. This scientific theory has no any sexual meet in between a man and woman. The concept is novel. Director Shoojit Sircar has taken a light-hearted optimistic look at the issue with full entertainment. No doubt, it is an adult comedy with emotion and logical drama. The post interval session is somewhat dull but in totality it is balanced. Writer Juhi Chaturvedi has written a good script. Shoojit’s direction is praiseworthy as the theme is a difficult one and yet he easily treats it as a light film. Actor John Abraham turns a producer and made an unconventional film. Music is good with the two good numbers ‘Rum Whisky’ and ‘Pani Da Rang’ being of the popular mood.
Ayushman is natural and has all the trapping of a fine actor as he delivers a confident performance. Yami Gautam serves up fine and she has a strong screen presence. Anu Kapoor reminds his Mr. India’s performance. He is an exceptional actor and brings life to all his scenes. Dolly Ahluwalia is admirable. Kamlesh Gill as grand-mom of Ayushman is exceptional. She is quite a scene stealer. Jayanta Das as father of Yami Gautam is fair. Production and technical values are good.
At the Box Office ,VICKY DONOR LAKHO ME EK is for progressive minded people. The forward-thought will be accepted by the Indian audiences and the makers will laugh their way to the banks as business in multiplex screens will be quite good in the weekends mainly.

MUSIC OF JANNAT 2 LAUNCHED
The music of Fox Star Studios and Vishesh Films “ Jannat 2” was launched by Sony Music on Tuesday, April 3rd 2012 at Mumbai’s JW Marriott Hotel. The lead actor Emraan Hashmi made a starry entry as Sonu Dilli KKC (Kuti Kameeni Cheez) which is his character in Jannat 2. Emraan Hashmi made a back entry with a .38mm pistol in his hand and shot at the huge glass that covered the stage, from which the debutant actress Esha Gupta walked out with director Kunal Deshmukh.
With this event the suspense of the marketing campaign ‘Who is Sonu Dilli KKC?’ finally came to an end. With hoardings at popular spot, stickers on autorickshaws, radio spots and social media site the character of Sonu DIlli was promoted as a campaign to promote this event. Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox Star Studios India says, “We wanted to make Sonu Dilli KKC popular before the event and this was the best way to strike a chord with the right audience. The fact that media was talking about Sonu Dilli KKC before the event shows that our marketing initiative was successful”
The video of a few songs including ‘Tu Hi Mera’ and ‘Tera Deedaar Hua’ were screened exclusively for the media. Mukesh Bhatt said, “I am happy that my friends from the media watched the videos before anyone else. Most of them came to me and said they loved it and that’s what made my day. ”
When asked about the title of the film Emraan Hashmi was quick to respond, “I have never said it’s a sequel, it’s a franchise. Since Bhatts have so many movies that are already popular why not build it further and take it ahead.”
Director Kunal Deshmukh didn’t deviate from the subject of Jannat 2, he added. “Jannat 2 is about arms trade but it’s not some serious expose or anything like that. In fact what people should also look out for is the chemistry between Emraan and Esha. I feel everyone will talk about that once they watch them on the big screen.”
